Event Description:
On Sunday, March 6, 2016 the Port Hudson SHS staff and volunteers will conduct an interpretive program demonstrating different kinds of Civil War weapons. The program will start at 1:00 pm with a cannon demonstration. The staff and volunteers will go through a drill to show & explain how cannon were loaded. The visitors will then be backed up a safe distance and the staff and volunteers will then load and fire the cannon. At 1:30 pm park staff and volunteers will demonstrate small arms such as: muskets, rifles, carbines, and pistols. The program will be concluded at 2:00 pm with another cannon demonstration. Just like the first demonstration, the staff and volunteers will go through a drill to show and explain how cannon were loaded and fired. The crowd will be backed up a safe distance and cannon will be fired.
