Event Description:
The Port Hudson SHS staff and volunteers will commemorate by re-enacting the surrender of the Port Hudson Confederate garrison to the U.S. Ar my on July 9, 1863. The program will start with Confederate reenactors hauling down the park's large Confederate garrison flag. This will be fol lowed by the raising of the park's large Federal garrison flag by Union reenactors. Af ter this the park'scannons willfire a salute.
