Event Description:
To commemorate the 153rd anniversary of “The Siege of Port Hudson,” the Port Hudson SHS near Zachary, LA will host the annual reenactment Saturday & Sunday, April 2-3, 2016 between 9:00 am—5:00 pm both days. Visitors will have access to volunteer reenactors in Union and Confederate campsite performing typical activities of the assaults. Soldiers dressed in authentic reproduction uniforms will be on hand to answer questions pertaining to the siege during the summer of 1863. The three branches of the services—artillery, cavalry, and infantry, will be portrayed, as well as sailors, cooks, laundresses, and sutlers.

The site is located on US 61 in East Feliciana Parish, about 25 minutes north of Baton Rouge and 10 minutes south of historic St. Francisville.
